Demers and Lion Electric launch battery-electric ambulance

Canada – Special vehicle body builder Demers Ambulances, based in Beloeil, Quebec, and The Lion Electric Co. of Saint-Jérôme, Quebec, have unveiled the Demers eFX Ambulance, which they claim is the first all-electric purpose-built ambulance.

The eFX Ambulance is built on a Lion5 chassis, which will be produced at Lion’s Saint-Jérôme facility, before final assembly is undertaken at Demers in Beloeil. Initially, the vehicle will be sold in North America, however, the companies have plans to distribute the ambulances worldwide. The agreement between the two firms stipulates that Demers will deploy at least 1,500 electric ambulances over the next five years.
