USAMeritor Inc, a manufacturer of components for trucks and trailers based in Troy, Michigan, is ramping up sales of its ‘14Xe ePowertrain’ which is currently available in the North American market and is produced at Meritor’s facility in Ashville, North Carolina. In an interview with T&BB, Meritor revealed that it is currently working with nine original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to develop electric trucks with the 14Xe installed.

Meritor has supply agreements with two of PACCAR Inc’s subsidiaries: Peterbilt Motors Company and Kenworth Truck Company. Peterbilt announced in February that it had selected Meritor to supply electric powertrains for its 579EV and 520EV battery-electric trucks, while in the same month, Kenworth announced that it would collaborate with Meritor on development of an e-powertrain for its heavy-duty T680E tractor unit. The T680E, which is now available for order, comes with the 14Xe as standard.
