Meritor to provide e-drivetrain technology to PACCAR for SuperTruck 3 project

USA – Meritor Inc, a components manufacturer based in Troy, Michigan, has been selected to provide its battery-electric drivetrain technology to PACCAR Inc of Bellevue, Washington in support of the ‘SuperTruck 3’ research project.

‘SuperTruck 3’ is a U.S. Department of Energy programme to fund promising and innovative concepts that will achieve greater efficiency and lower emissions in medium- and heavy-duty trucks – see T&BB November 2021 for further details. PACCAR has received USD33m to develop 18 Class 8 battery-electric and fuel-cell electric vehicles with advanced batteries, as well as a megawatt charging station. As part of this project, Meritor will be supplying its Blue Horizon ePowertrain technology.
