Cummins releases new ePowertrain for terminal tractors

USA – Columbus, Indiana-based power systems manufacturer Cummins Inc has released a new electric powertrain for terminal tractors. The new PowerDrive 8000 will support gross vehicle weights from 36 tonnes to 88.5 tonnes.

The powertrain has been developed in partnership with Kalmar, a subsidiary of Helsinki-based Cargotec Corp. In early 2022, Cummins will begin field tests of the powertrain with Kalmar. The tractors will be powered by Cummins’ batteries offering up to 182kWh of fast-charging capacity.
