US bus market report shows 27% growth in adoption of zero-emission buses in 2021

USA – CALSTART has recently published its annual ‘Zeroing in on ZEBS’ (Zero-Emission Bus) report, containing data on the adoption of zero-emission buses across North America.

Most prominently, the report highlighted the growth in full-size zero-emission transit buses (‘full-size’ defined as a Class 7 or 8 bus that is 30ft (9m) or longer in length). As of September 2021, there were 3,364 zero-emission buses in operation, in order books or with funding approved, an increase of 27% from the same month in 2020 (see table below). 1,371 of the zero-emission vehicles in the US are situated in California alone.
