GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Munich, Bavaria, has announced it is now offering its mirror replacement system as an option with all new models of its current city bus range.1

Already provided as an option for MAN coaches, ‘MAN OptiView’ replaces conventional side and rear-view mirrors with two cameras mounted on each side of the vehicle where the wing mirrors would normally be installed. These cameras feed live footage to two monitors inside the cab, providing a wider range of view around the vehicle and eliminating blind spots. Moreover, the technology will automatically adjust the images to improve visibility when it is impaired due to darkness, the weather, or sun glare. The German manufacturer claims that OptiView even brings a fuel consumption benefit, as the cameras are smaller and produce around 10% less drag than conventional wing mirrors.
