Proterra to supply Nikola BEVs and FCEVs with battery systems

USANikola Corporation of Phoenix, Arizona and Proterra Inc of Burlingame, California have signed a multi-year agreement for the supply of Proterra batteries to power Nikola’s zero-emission Class 8 trucks. 

Proterra batteries will be the main source of energy in Nikola Tre battery-electric vehicles and will provide auxiliary power to Tre fuel-cell electric vehicles. The company is set to deliver prototype systems to Nikola in the second quarter of this year and expects to start fitting new trucks with its batteries beginning in the fourth quarter. The volume of batteries to be supplied as part of the deal and the duration of the agreement have not been disclosed.
