Malaysian pick-up truck market recovery continued in Q4

Malaysia - The Malaysian market for pickup trucks increased by almost 12% year-on-year to 14,685 units in the fourth quarter of 2021 after surging by 37% to 13,145 units in the same period of the previous year, resulting in a 21% rise in full-year sales to 39,832 units after a 4% fall to 33,034 units previously.  

Toyota continued to dominate this segment last year with sales of its Hilux truck surging by almost 33% to 18,340 units after falling by almost 6% to 13,825 units in 2020, while Mitsubishi continued to gain ground with sales of its Triton model rising by 34% to 9,268 units after growth of 19% to 6,915 units previously. Ford claimed third place, with sales of its Ranger model falling by 6.6% to 4,814 units, following by Isuzu with D-Max volumes rising by 12% to 4,501 units.
