Vietnam - Vietnam’s commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw resumed its recovery in the fourth quarter of 2021, with sales rising by 9% to 23,144 units from a reasonably strong 21,201 units in the same period of the previous year, according to AsiaMotorBusiness.com analysis of data from the Vietnam Automotive Manufacturers Association (VAMA).

This followed a 39% sales decline in the third quarter of last year, after the government imposed strict lockdown restrictions in large parts of the country in July to help limit the impact of the Covid Delta variant. GDP rebounded by 5.2% year-on-year in the fourth quarter after contracting by 6% in the third quarter, once covid restrictions were eased in September, resulting in full-year growth of 2.6% compared with 2.9% in 2020.
