USA – The U.S. Department for Transportation has announced a USD1.5bn funding package through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to finance the procurement of low- and zero-emission buses across the USA in 2022.

The Federal Transit Administration (FTA) will award grants to public transport operators through two programmes. The first is the ‘Low or No Emission (Low-No) Grant Program’ which will award approximately USD1.1bn to operators to support the purchase or lease of vehicles and charging infrastructure. The second is the ‘Grants for Buses and Bus Facilities Program’, which will provide USD372m to fund the purchase and refurbishment of buses, vans, and related equipment, and to support the construction of new facilities.
