Peru’s truck market grows 3.5% in the first quarter of 2022

Peru - Commercial vehicle sales in Peru registered positive results between January and March this year, surpassing volumes achieved in the same period of the two previous years. According to the AAP (Association Automotriz del Perú), 3,988 truck units were sold, an increase of 3.5% compared with 3,853 units in the same period in 2021 and a rise of 71.7% compared with 2,322 units in the first quarter of 2020. The rigid truck segment accounted for 3,273 units, an increase of 3.7% on 3,156 in 2021, while the tractor segment grew by 2.6% to 715 units (697). 

In the passenger transport segment, sales of minibuses and buses ended the first quarter with 708 units sold and recorded growth of 29.2% compared to the volume sold in the first three months of 2021 (548 units), demonstrating the start of recovery. In relation to the pre-pandemic period, the quarter showed a drop of 8.8% compared to the first three months of 2020 (776 units).
