Called Ruta Elétrica Andina the project proposes construction of battery charging stations along the Andean highway at intervals of every 200 km – initially the project is to run from Cartagena in northern Colombia to Ipiales, on the border with Ecuador.

With registrations of 12,881 heavy commercial vehicles during the first nine months of this year, the Peruvian market declined by 6.3% compared with 13,750 units invoiced in the same period of 2022.

Peru, like other main countries of South American saw commercial vehicles sales decrease in the first six months of 2023 and by 11.0% to 8,220 units compared with 9,240 units sold in the same period of 2022.

The commercial vehicle segment in Peru reached sales of 3,968 units in the first quarter of this year, down 15.5% compared with the same period last year, when 4,696 vehicles were licensed, according to the AAP (Automotive Association of Peru) of Lima.

For a relatively small market of 17,729 commercial vehicles sold in 2022, there are a large number of brands selling into the market place.

According to data from the Automobile Association of Peru (AAP) of Lima, commercial vehicle sales grew by 8.9% in the first nine months of 2022 to 13,750 units, up from 12,632 units in the same period last year.

Sales of commercial vehicles (trucks and buses) in Peru grew by 9.7% overall to total 9,263 units sold in the first six months of the year (January to June 2022) compared with 8,449 units in the same period in 2021.

Commercial vehicle sales in Peru registered positive results between January and March this year, surpassing volumes achieved in the same period of the two previous year, with 3,988 truck sales.

The Peruvian truck segment ended 2021 with the sale of 15,680 units, an increase of 45.5% compared with 10,773 in 2020, and a gain of 27% compared with 2019, according to figures collected and supplied by the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP) based in the capital Lima.

According to the Automotive Association of Peru (AAP), based in Lima, during the first six months of 2021, a total of 8,426 commercial vehicles were sold in Peru, some 138.6% higher than the same period in 2020 (3,532 units).

The Peruvian market ended the first quarter of 2021 with the sale of 4,401 commercial vehicles, an increase of 42.1% compared with 3,098 units in the first three months of 2020. This was the best first quarter result in seven years, since 2014, when 5,382 units were sold.

The Peruvian market reached sales of 12,909 heavy commercial vehicles, a decrease of 22.5% compared with 2019, when it registered 16,650 vehicles, according to AAP.
