Italian LCV sales up 14.9% on 2020

Italy – Sales of light commercial vehicles weighing less than or equal to 3,500 kg in Italy were up 14.9% in 2021 on the year before, growing from 159,590 units to 183,320, according to figures collated and provided by ANFIA (Italian Association of the Automotive Industry). The report, produced ahead of the Italian commercial vehicle show Transpotec being held in Milan from May 12 to May 15, 2022, showed that registrations did not, however, match 2019 figures of 187,864 (a decrease of 2.4% from 2019 to 2021). In terms of European sales, Italy has the 4th highest share of LCV sales, at 9.2% of the entire market.
13.7% of LCVs sold in Italy were powered by alternative drivelines, significantly higher than the 6.2% average for Europe. Relatively large proportions of LCVs sold in Italy had hybrid or gas engines – 6.9% and 4.8% respectively, compared to 1.6% and 1.1% across Europe. 2% of LCVs sold in Italy were battery electric.
