ZF acquires minority stake in AI vision processing company StradVision

Artistic impression of ZF vehicles 'seeing' other objects using StradVision's technology

Germany / South KoreaZF Friedrichshafen AG (“ZF”), a vehicle components manufacturer based in Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, has acquired a 6% stake in Seoul, South Korean-based software company StradVision Inc, whose main product is an AI-driven vision processing technology which allows vehicles to perceive and identify objects around it.

StradVision’s ‘SVNet’ perception software employs machine-learning – that is to say, the technology is capable of actively learning from inputted data and from on-road experience. SVNet can therefore be leveraged in constructing vehicles capable of accurately perceiving and identifying objects in its surroundings, including other vehicles, lanes, pedestrians, animals, free spaces, and lights. It is reportedly designed to “see” other objects even in conditions of poor visibility.
