More than 700 MAN electric buses ordered since 2020 launch

The Lion's City 12 E by MAN

Germany MAN Truck & Bus SE of Munich, Bavaria has announced that more than 700 of its electric buses have been ordered since the sales launch of the Lion’s City E range in 2020. The announcement follows two orders from operators in Hamburg for a total of 53 buses.

The 12-metre Lion’s City E entered series production at the Starachowice plant in Poland in October 2020, followed by the 18-metre articulated version in April 2021. Since then, more than 700 units have been ordered, with several already operating across Northern and Central Europe. According to MAN, orders for the Lion’s City E in the past fiscal year made up 5.5% of all bus orders received by the company (more than 2,400 in total). The manufacturer’s plan is to increase the proportion to 50% of all orders by 2025 and 90% by 2030.
