USA – BorgWarner Inc, based in Auburn Hills, Michigan, has received an award of USD4.09 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to design and develop a cost-effective and advanced DC fast charger. The firm will lead the 36-month project in coordination with US-based suppliers and research partners such as Michigan State University, the State of Michigan, eTransEnergy, and Cityfi.
The objective of the project is to develop a ‘next generation’ of DC fast chargers at a 20-30% cost reduction while increasing power density and reliability. In addition, the project aims to reduce energy losses and package sizes.
