FranceRenault Trucks SAS, a subsidiary of the Volvo Group based in Saint-Priest, France, has announced that its D Wide and C truck ranges will be fitted with a new 11-litre engine from 2023, boasting up to 10% less fuel consumption over its previous diesel offering.

The DE11, an 11-litre Euro-VI compliant engine, was announced in November 2021. It features patented ‘Wave Piston’ technology, in which the flames are redirected inside the combustion bowl, making better use of available oxygen and thus improving combustion. This change, along with other alterations to internal parts, was made in the interest of improving the engine’s efficiency and thus reducing fuel consumption.
