GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Munich, Bavaria, has announced that it will be producing a global electric bus chassis based on the powertrain installed in the Lion’s City E range of electric buses. The manufacturer has stated that the first prototypes will be ready by 2023, with series production to follow in 2024.

The Lion’s City E range of 12-metre and 18-metre buses, which entered production in October 2020 and April 2021 respectively, are integral vehicles offered to the left-hand drive European market. As of 9 June, MAN has reportedly received over 1,000 orders for the Lion’s City E. In the near future, MAN will start selling electric bus chassis with both left-hand and right-hand drive for the global market.
