Next-gen Setra coaches enter series production

Series production Setra ComfortClass

Germany – The Neu-Ulm plant belonging to Stuttgart-based Daimler Truck AG has started series production of the Setra brand’s Next-gen ComfortClass and TopClass 500 interurban and coach models.

Daimler Buses piloted what it calls the ‘digital bus body’ in Neu-Ulm with the production launch of the Setra ComfortClass and TopClass. All new components of the two buses were assembled digitally on the computer in the correct assembly sequence beforehand. This enabled optimisations within the assembly process in advance, minimising subsequent process adjustments and contributing to a smooth product launch. In future, the firm states that this methodology will be applied to all new models.
