GermanyMercedes-Benz Group AG of Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg has released its manufacturing and investment strategy for the production of electric vans over the next several years.

By 2025, Mercedes-Benz will begin making mid-size and large vans based on ‘VAN.EA’ (Van Electric Architecture), an electric vehicle platform which will be the foundation of all its new vans in the long term. In the meantime, Mercedes-Benz will release the next-generation eSprinter, which will be the first in the range to be sold in the North American market. At Düsseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, where current and future electric vans under the Mercedes brand are made, an investment of around EUR400m will fund necessary adjustments to allow for VAN.EA production.
