Maxion Wheels expands truck wheel range with lightweight steel and forged aluminium

Germany / TurkeyMaxion Wheels GmbH, a subsidiary of Iochpe-Maxion based in Königswinter, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, announced at a press conference at the IAA in Hanover on 20 September that it is expanding its range with truck wheels made of lightweight steel and – in a first for the company – aluminium.

Maxion Wheels used the IAA to launch a series of steel wheels which it claims sets a new benchmark for weight in the industry. The product range is lighter by 3kg, reaching a new low of 30kg (compared to 34kg back in 2017). What this means for operators is a payload increase of 40kg or more, as well as fuel efficiency gains from the reduction in wheel mass.
