USA / GermanyNikola Corporation, a designer of zero-emission commercial vehicles based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, has agreed with electric utility company E.ON SE of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany to set up a joint venture for the provision of fuel cell-powered vehicles and hydrogen fuel to operators.

The proposed joint venture would supply European customers with Class 8 trucks manufactured by Nikola alongside services and green hydrogen infrastructure as a single package. The two companies believe their partnership will be critical in transitioning European fuelling infrastructure from diesel to zero-emission alternatives such as hydrogen while achieving cost parity. A definitive agreement between Nikola and E.ON is expected to be signed by the end of the year.
