UK / AustraliaWrightbus of Ballymena, UK has received its very first hydrogen bus order for the Australian market. Two Hydroliners will enter service in Brisbane, Queensland under French public transport provider Transdev

As per a deal struck in May, Wrightbus will supply fuel cell powertrains and chassis to bus bodybuilder Volgren of Dandenong, Victoria, who will be responsible for assembling the vehicles and handing them over to Transdev. The State of Queensland has committed AUD1.5m to support the purchase of the buses under the ‘Hydrogen Industry Development Fund’; in turn, Transdev has matched the government’s figure with its own funds. Yuri Tessari, Chief Commercial Officer at Volgren, stated that the buses would become some of the first of their kind to be built in Australia, and the very first to employ European technology.
