CaetanoBus and Italiana Autobus to build hydrogen buses in Italy

Partnership between IIA and CaetanoBus
Italy / Portugal – Portuguese bus and coach builder, CaetanoBus SA of Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal, and Italian bus manufacturer, Industria Italiana Autobus SpA* (IIA) of Rome, has signed an agreement to produce hydrogen-powered city-buses in Italy, based on Toyota Fuel Cell technology and an H2 City Power Kit system developed by CaetanoBus. According to the agreement, the bus will be co-branded with Toyota and by the end of 2024, IIA will start production of the hydrogen buses at its factory in Bologna, Italy.
H2 City Power Kit is a module engineered by CaetanoBus for a Hydrogen energy control system using Toyota’s Fuel Cell module, a lithium-titanate battery (LTO), and Hydrogen tanks to optimise the energy generation from hydrogen, which will then be supplied as the power train according to the vehicle needs.
