The E60 by Rampini

USA / ItalyPerrone Robotics Inc of Crozet, Virginia, USA and Rampini Carlo SpA* have announced they are partnering together to develop and market 6-metre electric buses with an autonomous drive mode.

The two companies are working on a vehicle concept, called ‘Sixtron’, which will bring together Rampini’s line of ‘E60’ battery-electric buses and Perrone’s ‘TONY’ autonomous driving retrofit kit. The 6-metre buses installed with Perrone’s autonomous driving hardware will have three drive modes: manual drive; manual drive with advanced driver assistance features such as forward collision avoidance, blind spot detection, lane departure warnings and adaptive speed control; and autonomous (supervised) operation in ringfenced areas.
