Karsan presents hydrogen bus at Hanover and Madrid shows

The e-ATA Hydrogen by Karsan, exhibited at FIAA in Madrid

Germany / Spain – At IAA Transportation 2022 in Hanover between 20-25 September and later at FIAA in Madrid between 18-21 October, Karsan Otomotiv Sanayi ve Tic AŞ (“Karsan”) of Bursa, Turkey showcased a 12-metre hydrogen fuel-cell electric bus, which is immediately available for orders.

The new vehicle is a hydrogen-powered variant of the ‘e-ATA’ line of battery-electric buses which was launched a year ago; like the rest of the e-ATA range, the e-ATA Hydrogen is propelled by a ZF electric portal axle, providing 250 kW of power and 22,000 Nm of torque. The bus gets its energy from a 70-kW fuel cell and an auxiliary 30-kWh battery with lithium-titanate-oxide (LTO) chemistry. Composite tanks on the roof store 1,560 litres of hydrogen; these provide a 500-kilometre range and are refilled in less than seven minutes.
