USA / ChinaPhoenix Motor Inc of Anaheim, California, USA has announced that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd (“CATL”) of Ningde, Fujian, China, which would see the two companies jointly developing battery systems for Phoenix Motor’s commercial electric vehicles.

Batteries produced by CATL will be supplied to Phoenix Motor through its North American distributor, Coulomb Solutions. Through a subsidiary (“Suzhou Synland Technology Co Ltd”), CATL reportedly developed an “E-rolling” frame construction chassis product, integrating the coaxial e-beam, frame, and electronic devices along with the battery pack, specifically for pickup trucks, light trucks, vans, and RVs. CATL will work together with Phoenix Motor to integrate the technology with Phoenix Motor’s light truck and bus lines.
