USAPaccar Inc of Bellevue, Washington has announced that it will be working with Platform Science Inc of San Diego, California to integrate the latter’s data platform with trucks made by Paccar’s subsidiaries in North America: Kenworth Trucking Company of Kirkland, Washington and Peterbilt Motors Company of Denton, Texas.

Platform Science’s ‘Virtual Vehicle’ is an edge computing platform that provides access to telematics, real-time data and third-party applications directly from the vehicle. Edge computing architecture brings computation and data storage closer to data source (i.e., the vehicle), allowing for improved response time and connection with the fleet customer’s ‘cloud’ or central database. Paccar says that select Kenworth and Peterbilt trucks built from 2024 onwards will be installed with Virtual Vehicle hardware.
