MAN announces first major electric truck order from DB Schenker

Upcoming electric trucks by MAN

GermanyMAN Truck & Bus SE, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Munich, Bavaria, has announced its first major order for its upcoming electric trucks from DB Schenker of Essen, North Rhine-Westphalia, the logistics subsidiary of rail operator Deutsche Bahn AG. DB Schenker will begin piloting the trucks in 2024.

100 trucks will be added to DB Schenker’s fleet by 2026, according to the agreement between the two companies. 10 units will be produced in the first half of 2024, when small-scale production is set to begin at MAN’s facility in Munich. These will be so-called “ultra-tractor units” with semitrailers as low as 950mm and with internal heights of 3 metres. The 90 other trucks will be delivered in 2025 and 2026 and will be a mixture of “ultra-tractor units” and swap body trucks.
