ZF to partner with Wolfspeed in semiconductor design and manufacture

Germany / USAZF Friedrichshafen AG, an automotive systems developer based in Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany, has announced a strategic partnership with Wolfspeed Inc of Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, USA regarding the development and manufacture of silicon carbide semiconductor devices for vehicles. 

The two companies have agreed to build a joint research facility in Germany for the development of semiconductor technologies tailored to electric vehicles in every segment, including commercial vehicles.The chips designed here will employ silicon carbide, a semiconductor material suited to high temperature and/or high voltage applications. ZF and Wolfspeed hope to produce semiconductor devices with increased power density and better performance. They are inviting third parties to get involved.
