Brazilian production of bus bodies grows 54.9% in 2022

Brazil - Brazilian production of bus and coach bodies grew 54.9% in 2022 and reached 19,151 units, against 12,361 units in the previous year, according to data from FABUS (National Association of Bus Manufacturers) of São Paulo - see table below. All segments performed well with city bus sales up by 80.1% at 9,675 units against 5,373 units in 2021. The coach segment increased by 48.5%, from 3,281 units to 4,871 units. The minibus segment totalled 4,535 units, against 2,398, an increase of 37.5%.

Marcopolo maintained its leadership as a manufacturer with a total of 7,990 units (this includes 2,954 units under the Neobus brand) and a 41.7% share of Brazilian production. This was followed by Caio Induscar, with 6,659 units (including 1,053 units of Carbuss (formerly Busscar)) and 34.8% market share.
