62.5% of all city buses registered in EU27+4 countries in 2022 had an alternative driveline, states Chatrou CME Solutions

Chatrou CME Solutions: Electric city bus registrations by country in 2022.

Europe - 62.5% of the 13,434 city bus registrations in EU27+UK, NO, ICE & CH countries in 2022 had an alternative driveline, according to figures collated and analysed by Chatrou CME Solutions (CME) of the Netherlands.

CME’s figures indicate that after seven straight years of growth of city buses powered with alternative drivelines, deliveries in 2022 within the EU27+4 countries fell marginally in volume terms to 9,543 units, down from 9,813 in 2021. CME reported deliveries of 4,152 electric buses (excluding trolley buses), 2,018 hybrid buses, 3,274 CNG buses and 99 hydrogen buses, adding up to a total of 9,543 buses with an alternative driveline in 2022.  CME points out that the lower figure in 2022 was due to a lower volume of hybrid buses.
