Navistar launches new S13 powertrain for vocational trucks

USANavistar International Corporation, a subsidiary of the Traton Group based in Lisle, Illinois, has launched a version of the new International ‘S13’ Integrated Powertrain for the vocational market, following the powertrain’s introduction for the on-highway market last August.

The S13 for vocational applications features the same engine and aftertreatment system as the powertrain announced last year. The 13-litre engine, with 515 hp and 1,850-lb-ft of torque, features a new selective catalytic reduction (SCR) design for controlling emissions. The elimination of exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) means it produces less soot and particulate matter while also delivering improved performance and fuel efficiency, according to Navistar.
