Continental announces breakthroughs in tyre technology to benefit the environment

Nikolai Setzer, Continental’s CEO

Germany - Tyre and technology company, Continental AG of Hanover announced consolidated sales revenue for 2022 of EUR 39.4 billion, a 16.7 per cent increase when compared with EUR33.8bn in 2021. Net income, however, fell by 95.4% to EUR67m (2021: EUR 1.4 billion), due to negative social effects, higher interest rates, sanctions on Russia and supply chain issues.

There were some investment milestones including, in the aftermarket segment, the launch of the “TireTech” app, which provides information on the optimum tyre pressure for Continental’s truck and bus tyre range. The company also invested in an AI lab in Berlin, Germany, which opened in February 2023.
