Honda to enter global hydrogen fuel-cell market by 2024

Honda Fuel Cell

Japan - Honda Motor Company, headquartered in Minato in Japan’s capital city Tokyo, announced in early February it plans to begin selling “next-generation” hydrogen fuel cell power systems for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and other applications by 2024, as the company looks to increase its exposure to the global zero-emissions market.

Honda’s existing hydrogen fuel cell system was developed in partnership with America’s General Motors Corporation (GM). The company said it has “begun fundamental research on future fuel-cell technologies with the target to halve the cost and double the durability compared with the fuel cell system co-developed with GM”, bringing them in line with conventional diesel engines.
