Daimler Truck launches new generation Setra MultiClass bus series

Germany – In March this year, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, launched its new low-entry inter-city bus range, the Setra MultiClass 500 LE series. The buses come in four models, ranging in length from 10.51 to 14.52 metres and two as well as three axles. Daimler states it has been designed for a wide range of applications, from peri-urban to long-distance inter-city transport in sparsely populated regions. Accordingly, the buses can be registered in accordance with both class 1 (city regular-service bus) and class 2 (inter-city bus) categories. 

The MultiClass 500 LE series boasts an OM 936 six-cylinder diesel engine, available in two output levels of 220 kW (299 hp) and 1200 Nm torque and of 260 kW (354 hp) and 1400 Nm. The engine is matched with a fully automated GO 250-8 PowerShift manual transmission. The buses also come with the latest version of Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC).
