Steyr Automotive acquires Austrian body builder in move towards original equipment manufacturing

MUT truck bodies acquired by Steyr Automotive
Austria – Steyr Automotive GmbH, a contract manufacturer based in Steyr, Upper Austria, has announced its intention to acquire the special-body business of Maschinen Umwelttechnik Transportanlagen GmbH (MUT), as part of its strategy to become an original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
MUT, which is based in Stockerau in the state of Lower Austria, specialises in organic waste disposal and wastewater treatment. As part of its environmental services remit, it manufactures municipal truck bodies for waste collection, street cleaning, and sewer treatment. If and when the acquisition deal is agreed this summer, these products will move over to Steyr Automotive.
