ANFAVEA warns of sharp decline in truck production due to market decline for Euro 6 compliant trucks

Brazil - Due to the low demand in the first months of 2023, almost all major commercial vehicle manufacturers with factories in Brazil has decided to reduce production in the coming months by reducing working hours and by mandating collective vacations. The expectation is that with introduction of the Proconve P8 (Euro 6) emissions legislation on January 1, 2023, orders are expected to remain low throughout the first half of the year, before recovering.

While total truck registrations for the first quarter were positive, up 6.6% at 28,633 units from 26,859 the previous first year’s quarter, according to ANFAVEA several of the segments were in negative territory (see table below), order books are much depleted, and production also fell sharply.
