The AxTrax 2 by ZF

USA – At Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, held between 1-4 May 2023, ZF Friedrichshafen AG of Friedrichshafen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany launched a new electric axle drive system for the global Class 5-8 commercial vehicle market.

The ‘AxTrax 2’ is a follow-up to ZF’s existing line of integrated electric portal axles for buses. The AxTrax system includes the motor, 800V silicon-carbide inverter, control unit, actuator, and 3-speed transmission. It is modular, meaning that customers can choose to take some or all of the components for integration in their electric vehicle. The AxTrax2 will deliver 210 kW of continuous power and 26,000 Nm peak output torque.
