Motiv Power Systems launches next-gen EV powertrain at ACT Expo

Motiv Power Systems truck with Carrier Transicold all-electric refrigeration unit

USA – At the Advanced Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo in Anaheim, California, held between 1-4 May 2023, Motiv Power Systems Inc of Foster City, California announced the launch of its newest-generation EV powertrain and presented a box truck with an all-electric refrigeration unit by Carrier Transicold

Motiv Power Systems’ latest vehicles will be capable of achieving ranges up to 200 miles, even when fully laden with cargo or passengers. This is thanks to alterations made to powertrain components which the company developed together with its partners. The patented e-motor, co-developed with Japanese firm Nidec, has a peak power output of 295 kW or 394 horsepower and peak torque of 1,190 Nm or 870 lbs-ft. The two LFP battery packs, which have a total capacity of 127 kWh, were collaboratively developed with Our Next Energy (ONE). Testing conducted last year reportedly showed that these batteries could provide a range exceeding 150 miles for a 6,000-payload truck.
