Daimler Truck sets stringent safety objectives for its commercial vehicle range

Daimler's Mercedes-Benz Actros Safety Demo Truck

Germany – With accident-free driving high on the agenda, in May this year, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Germany, committed to equipping a minimum of 75 percent of its Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles delivered in 2025 and at least 80 percent in 2030 with a safety system that exceeds the legal requirements in terms of performance. These safety systems include active brake assist, automatic emergency braking emergency assist and sideguard assist. The company has been installing numerous safety systems long before they were required by law, making Daimler Truck somewhat of a “safety pioneer”. These developments have come from countless hours of accident research at Daimler Truck’s various R&D facilities across the world.

In 2022 various new safety and assistance systems were released in other markets, brands and models such as active sideguard assist in the Freightliner Cascadia and active drive assist 2 in the Setra ComfortClass and TopClass touring coaches. The automatic emergency brake assist, which was presented for the first time in 2006, also has a special success story. To date, the active brake assist in vehicles from Daimler Trucks has been sold more than a million times.
