Peterbilt trucks now available with TX-18 Pro with new offroad modes

The Paccar TX-18

USAPeterbilt Motors Company of Denton, Texas has announced that trucks in model ranges 579, 567, 589, 389, 367, and 365 can now be ordered with the latest ‘TX-18 Pro’ transmission from parent company Paccar Inc with new offroad modes.

The TX-18 Pro automated transmission features a new secondary mode called ‘Off-Road Calibration’. This mode allows the transmission to shift gears in response to the road terrain and surface conditions, which Peterbilt says will minimise unnecessary shifting and maximise time spent in gear. Another feature is ‘Rock-Free Mode’, which the driver can quickly engage when offroad conditions impact manoeuvrability.
