France – A consortium of six companies is working together to launch a public transport service employing self-driving minibuses in the French city of Châteauroux by 2026.

The project, known as ‘Mach2’, aims to integrate Level 4 autonomous minibuses, without onboard supervision, into the city’s public transport network, which is operated by Keolis. Renault SA of Boulogne-Billancourt will supply 6-metre minibuses based on its battery electric van platform, and EasyMile SAS of Toulouse will develop the autonomous driving software.
