Mercedes-Benz adds emergency braking component to truck driver safety course in Germany

Emergency braking course at the Mercedes-Benz Nürburgring facility

Germany – To strengthen the Mercedes-Benz truck service in Germany, Daimler Truck AG of Leinfelden-Echterdingen, has added an emergency braking segment to its truck driver safety training course at its facility in Nürburgring. The aim is to increase road safety and to improve job satisfaction to improve driver retention throughout the country.

Last month, the Schmitt-Peterslahr haulage company sent 35 of its drivers to be trained in emergency braking techniques. The Mercedes-Benz truck trainers used six Actros vehicles (tractor units and long trucks) to demonstrate various techniques in different (simulated) weather conditions. The course also offered a theoretical element in the form of an instructive lecture that focused on Emergency Brake Assist and Active Brake Assist 5.
