Range electric trailer eligible for CARB voucher scheme

The RA-01 by Range

USARange Energy Inc, a startup based in Mountain View, California, has announced that its electrified semi-trailer is eligible for point-of-sale incentives of up to USD80,000 through the “Clean Off-Road Equipment” (CORE) voucher scheme offered in the state of California.

The ‘RA-01’, which was debuted at the Advanced Clean Transportation Expo (ACT) between 1-4 May 2023, is a 53-foot semi-trailer installed with an electric axle and energy storage system. The axle can generate up to 350 kW of power and 14,000 Nm torque, while the battery stores up to 200 kWh. Power from the battery can be used for auxiliary functions such as power take-off or refrigeration; it can also be used to support propulsion, making the truck-trailer into a hybrid vehicle and potentially reducing fuel consumption by up to 41% over the product lifecycle.
