South Korean startup 42Dot launches self-driving shuttle bus service

South Korea - Hyundai Motor Company’s artificial intelligence (AI) startup affiliate, 42Dot, based in the South Korean capital city Seoul, has launched a self-driving shuttle bus service to ferry passengers to and from the Samsung Mobility Museum in Yongin in South Korea’s Gyeonggi Province.

The eight-seater vehicle, which accommodates seven passengers and a safety officer, uses 42Dot’s in-house self-driving integrated platform ‘Tap’. The micro bus has been put into service as a pilot scheme before the company’s autonomous driving technology is put to wider use in the public transportation sector. The bus has 12 cameras and 6 radars which recognize its surroundings in real time.
