Krone celebrates 50 years of Coil Liner production

The first flatbed semitrailer with coil trough was presented by Krone at the IAA 1973

Germany – In August this year, trailer manufacturer, Krone Commercial Vehicles SE (a subsidiary of Bernard Krone Holding GmbH & Co KG) of Werlte, celebrated 50 years of production of the Coil Liner, a trailer with a special trough for the safe transport of steel coils. The Coil Liner trailer debuted at the 1973 IAA Commercial Vehicle Show in Frankfurt, Germany.

The company, over the fifty years, has responded to the growing European demand for the safe transportation of steel coils for the automotive industry. The sheer weight posed a problem for freight operators initially, but once this new product came to market, numerous orders followed. Now, the coil trough is a legal requirement for the transport of coils.
