Germany / USAPaccar Inc of Bellevue, Washington owner of several commercial vehicle brands including DAF Truck NV of Eindhoven, Netherlands, has broken ground on a new (EUR 85 million) 240,000 square foot (22,000 square meters) distribution centre in the city of Massbach, Bayern, Germany to support parts supply to DAF customers in Germany, Switzerland and France. The facility is slated to open next year and will store over 80,000 different parts in order to provide a service to the dealer network by reducing shipment times thus reducing vehicle downtime.

The facility will utilise the latest in automated packaging systems, scanning equipment and ordering technology to aid in efficiency. On the environmental side, the distribution centre will make use of solar panels, eco-friendly heat pumps and electric charging facilities which will service the electric vehicles being used on-site.
