Pepper Motion signs supply deal with Toyota for fuel cell system

Andreas Hager of Pepper Motion and Takeo Suzuki of Toyota Tsusho Nexty Electronics sign supply agreement

Germany / JapanPepper Motion GmbH, a retrofit firm based in Denkendorf, Bavaria, Germany, has signed an agreement with Toyota Tsusho – the Nagoya-based trading company (sougou shousha) which supports Toyota Motor Corporation with product distribution – for the supply of Toyota fuel cell systems for powering Pepper Motion’s hydrogen bus and truck products.

Pepper Motion offers retrofit “kits” for converting diesel vehicles to electric. The hydrogen conversion kit includes fuel tanks, ZF electric drive, Impact batteries, and electronic subsystems (some, such as the ‘battery junction box’ for battery monitoring, made by Pepper Motion itself), as well as the fuel cell stack. Pepper Motion also sells vehicles it has converted to electric, such as the Mercedes ‘Citaro’ and ‘Actros’ lines of bus and truck, respectively.
