Malaysia - The Malaysian commercial vehicle market over 2 tons gvw weakened slightly in the second quarter of 2023, with sales falling by 3% to 18,751 units after volumes almost doubled to 19,355 units in the same period of last year as the economy rebounded from the previous year’s lockdowns.

Malaysian GDP growth slowed sharply in the second quarter, to 2.9% year-on-year after rebounding by 8.8% a year earlier. It was also much weaker than the 5.6% growth recorded in the first quarter, due to a sharp decline in export activity and slower domestic consumption growth.
